Relevant Ministries
is the Student Ministries of Harvest Assembly of God. The Elders
of Harvest provide the spiritual oversight of all ministries and
programs of Relevant Ministries. Relevant Ministries: We desire to be simple and real. If you are looking for a complicated plan or strategy, then Relevant Ministries is most likely not the right place for you. We are a group of people who understand our constant need for God's mercy and grace in our lives. This understanding provides our motivation for extending mercy and grace to others, who may not believe what we believe or live like we live. We are committed to seeing the value in all people, based upon our conviction that all people are created in the image of God and therefore have intrinsic value built into them. We hold to a firm conviction that faith in Jesus Christ and what He did at the cross is our only hope of present and eternal peace with God. Although this is our conviction, we also are committed to providing love, acceptance, and compassion to those who presently do not or may never embrace this belief as their own. We place a high value upon authentic Biblical community. We are tired of superficial relationships that lack depth and commitment. We want to be a place where we can be honest about our struggles and failures. A place where we speak the truth in love, and don't overlook our failures, but in love commit to helping each other overcome them. Our goal is not complicated, but it is also not easy. The goal is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Our second goal is equally as important. We desire to love others with the same love that God extends to us. Our programs and methods may change through time, but our two primary goals will not. Presently we have the following areas of emphasis: 1. Small Group Ministry - Our small groups are affinity driven. What does that mean? It means you go to any small group you feel comfortable with. We do not force you to fit in a certain spot. God has a place for you where you can grow and encourage the rest of us to grow also. The small groups are made up of people who believe in God, are seeking God and, to be honest, some people who are not even sure there is a God. Our small groups meet at various homes, schools, restaurants, etc. Call 757-312-8558 for locations and times of groups meeting this week. 2. The Gathering - SUNDAY NIGHTS 6PM - 8:30 PM. This is our Sunday night Celebration time. We gather for fellowship, relevant and energetic worship, and a time to ponder teachings from the Bible with a strong life application. We understand that not all styles of worship or church are for everyone. We are okay with this. All we ask is that you come and check us out. If you like it, stay and worship with us. If it is not a good fit for you, let us know, and we will be more than willing to point you to other ministries in town that you might feel more comfortable at. The location of The Gathering is 525 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake VA 23322 @ Harvest Assembly. Closing Comments: In closing, let me add...there is nothing more exciting than walking in a daily encounter with the living God. This is my personal life goal. My passion is to grow in intimacy daily with Christ and to help others do the same. As you consider Relevant Ministries, there may be methods that we use that might not be conventional in nature. There may be some that you may even disagree with and do not consider worthy of participating in. We are really okay with this - each person should be led by the direction of the Spirit of God for his or her own lives. A one-size-fits-all style of ministry robs the Holy Spirit from releasing creative thought and gifts through individuals in the Body of Christ. All we ask is that in the spirit of unity (not uniformity) that we could agree with the foundation of Relevant Ministries - to love God passionately and to love others compassionately.
