Addesa Family Update, April 2007
As many of you know, Noah Addesa was hit by lightning yesterday
afternoon as he was coming out of the shed in the backyard. It
seems that the lightning hit the tree and bounced on to Noah.
He stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. Pastor Lisa
came out right away with Emma and began trying to resuscitate
him. Hannah called 911 and the fireman and ambulance arrived within
4 minutes. Praise God! The emergency crew was able to resuscitate
him and took him to Chesapeake General Hospital. From Chesapeake
General Hospital they transferred Noah to Norfolk General Hospital
where they were able to stabilize his heart rate and blood pressure.
Noah is currently at CHKD in the PICU.
Noah has 2nd degree burns on his chest and leg and a head wound
from falling backward.
As of this morning, the doctors are no long sedating him and are
waiting for him to wake up on his own.
The hospital was very accommodating to guests last night, as best
as they could. But as of right now, only family members are allowed
to visit.
The Addesa Family would like to thank everyone for their support
and prayers. Please pray specifically:
1. That Noah would "wake up" from his coma.
2. That there would be no lasting neurological damage in Noah's
body.
3. That God would give special strength to Pastor David, Lisa,
Hannah, and Emma.
4. That the end result of this entire ordeal would be a testimony
that brings glory to God-as one TV station has put it, that Noah
would truly be a "Miracle Boy."

This afternoon we received the test results they did on Noah's
brain and they came back positive! It shows that he has some slow
brain activity taking place because he is still in a comatose
state. We are still waiting for Noah to wake up, so please keep
praying.

We just got word that the nurse cleaned Noah’s burn. She
said it would hurt and expected him to react. While she was cleaning
the burn, it caused him to open his eyes. He looked at the nurse
and lifted his arm. Great news! He is still not fully awake. Please
continue to pray.

Last night around 7 pm, Noah was being taken away for some tests.
Lisa spoke to him and he opened his eyes and moved his hand. Later
that evening, he opened his eyes again. Noah is still unconscious.
Noah has an MRI scheduled for 10 AM today.
We’re already hearing testimonies of God’s faithfulness:
Lisa had been gone in the afternoon. She had been home for about
15 mins. when the lightning struck. Praise God she was there.
On Friday night a family from Harvest was attending a concert
and talked with the paramedic who responded to Noah. The paramedic
said that they were on the road when they saw the lightning. Shortly
after, they received the call. He said they were able to respond
faster because they were already on the road.

An Encouraging report from Pastor David:
(Sunday night, April 29, 2007)
The lightning struck his left side so his eardrum was blown out
and his left eye was looking pretty awful. The ENT specialist
came in today and said: “ There is nothing wrong with this
boy’s ear”. And the ophthalmologist examined his eye
and said: “it is perfect”. I am weeping as I write
this because of God’s mercy. He needs more of Heaven to
invade this situation, but with the intercession of the saints,
I am extremely encouraged with what has happened so far.
Tomorrow we are going to receive the Radiologist report on the
MRI for his spine. At this juncture, I am asking the Father to
wake Noah up. If he opens his eyes, they will remove the respirator
from his throat and that would be a huge step in this process.

The family received a report from the doctor this morning and
were told the MRI tests showed that Noah's brain has cerebral
hypoxia, which is a lack of oxygen to the brain. Pastor David
is asking that you continue to pray for Noah to come out of this
coma and that this would be used for the Glory of God . . . and
that he would truly be a "Miracle Boy."
